This was a really tough call between Ruben Lee and Zeke Bell. Lee only played in 136 games and had better slash numbers, as well as per game numbers. Ultimately, we will go to defense, where Lee had an astounding 13 plus plays in left field, which is really hard to do. Lee continues to be in a core of players that is still very young and putting up consistent Hall of Fame numbers. Lee is locked up through season 50 on a relatively modest contract at $9.7M per year.

There were four dominant pitchers last year deserving of this award, with El Caballo Pickford, Harry Kline and Dillon Lesher. We decided to go with Owen, who although he didn't pitch as much was absolutely dominating when he was out there, as he just doesn't let anyone on base and throws a lot of strikeouts. Owen was injured in the World Series, which might have turned the tables in the Series. That is enough to convince the voting Syndicate.

What an awesome name. Chase Titan. The name was worth extra points alone. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and Chase stood out among a so-so group of rookies that saw some of the top prospects injured.

Pillette has been one of the best pitchers in the game and with a change in ownership in Anaheim, his role changed to closer. It might have hurt his WAR with fewer innings, but Pillette is always lights out.
