Yount Most Valuable Player:
Runs: 121 Hits: 188 HR: 67 RBI: 165 SB: 1
AVG: .309 OBP: .374 SLG: .673 OPS: 1.047
The writer panel for GUGOOHG was deeply affected by the hurtful words of willsuave last year after the World Series Champion did not gather accolades, which partially leads to this vote. Jimmie Maya had another outstanding year and Preston Sprague actually won the Silver Slugger award at 1B, while Bryan Hammonds had a career year for the Yankees. The usual suspects in Iwazaki and Lee put up numbers that we now take for granted. In the end, the 67 bombs and 165 RBI count for a lot, despite what advanced metrics say. Rosales is arguably the best home run hitter in the game, and has put up 252 career bombs. He is signed for a paltry $5.0M for the next four years with an escalator in Season 54 at $6.5M.

Pena has quickly established himself as one of the best pitchers in the game, with a monster year in his first full season with the Rays. The first pick in the season 44 draft by the Toronto Blue Jays, Pena was dealt in Season 48 for Phil Mattingly, Manuel Escalona and Sammy Rivera. Pena should break the bank when he is arbitration eligible.
Yount Rookie of the Year:
Runs: 95 Hits: 165 HR: 39 RBI: 118 SB: 21
AVG: .278 OBP: .349 SLG: .540 OPS: .889
The Mets have invested more dollars in budgeting on public relations than any team in Yount and this probably helped Amezaga edge out Yorman Delgado and Ramon Kim for the prestigious Yount Rookie of the Year. Amezaga was signed by the Colonels in Season 45 for $13.1M. Amezaga was part of prospects that were packaged together in Season 48 in a trade for Greg Terry, who has become an important cog in the Louisville bullpen. Amezaga is now a cornerstone for the Mets going forward.
Yount Fireman of the Year:
Games: 72 Saves: 37 W-L: 7-6 Inn: 75.0
BB: 24 SO: 64 WHIP: 0.93 ERA: 2.04
Despite not winning Rookie of the Year or Fireman of the Year in the pedestrian WIS Awards, Kim is our choice for Yount Fireman of the Year. Used a closer plus, he appeared in 72 games and threw 75 innings. Along the way, he picked up 37 saves in 40 opportunities. Kim projects out as one of the best relievers in Yount for years to come.
