Boston, Massachusetts - The $40 million threshold has finally been surpassed in the signing of an international free agent, and it appears to be a worthwhile investment. Wily Cespedes, sought after by nearly every team with international free-agent (IFA) funds, signed for a record $40.5 million. This surpasses the previous record set in Season 23 by the White Sox with the signing of Alexi Gonzales. Cespedes is considered potentially the best pitching prospect in Yount history.
