Although there is debate among members of the Yount League as to the validity of all-star recognition, there is an actual all-star game on the major league level. The Pirates led the way with six all-stars, with the Angels and Tigers each having five. With no mandatory all-star selection from each team, five teams were shut out of recognition at the major league level.
In the minor leagues, every level has an all-star game except rookie, which recognizes, but has not actual game. The Angles with their usual robust minor-league system led the way with 24 total selections, including a league-high nine at the Double A level. Every team except for the Dodgers and Blue Jays had one player selected to participate in the mid-summer minor league classics.
