Although there is debate among members of the Yount League as to the validity of all-star recognition, there is an actual all-star game on the major league level. The Astros led the way with eight all-stars, with the Guardians, Reds and Pirates checking in with 5. With no mandatory all-star selection from each team, twelve teams were shut out of recognition at the major league level, up from eight last year.
In the minor leagues, every level has an all-star game except rookie, which recognizes, but has no actual game. The Cubs led the way with 24 selections. The leader last year, the Orioles checked in with 21. For the second consecutive year, every team had at least one player selected to participate in the mid-summer minor league classics.
