Although there is debate among members of the Yount League about the validity of all-star recognition, there is an actual all-star game on the major league level. The Tigers who are absolutely sizzling had eight all-stars, with the Dodgers, Yankees, Rays and Orioles with five. With no mandatory all-star selection from each team, eleven teams were shut out of recognition at the major league level, up from six last year.
In the minor leagues, every level has an all-star game except rookie, which recognizes, but has no actual game. The Orioles led the way again with 21 selections. Every team had a selection again this year.
