Yount League members often debate the legitimacy of all-star recognition, even though there is an official all-star game at the major league level. The American League was dominated by the two most talented teams, the Brewers with nine all-stars and the Nationals with eight. Congratulations to the Twins, who have five all-stars in a highly competitive National League. Notably, eleven teams did not have any players chosen, which is two more than last year, as there are no mandatory selections.
In the minor leagues, all levels except Rookie have an all-star game. The Rookie level is recognized but does not play an actual game. The Minor League All-Stars were dominated by the consistently strong Orioles, who had 27 selections. The Braves followed with 24 selections, including an impressive 11 selections at the Low-A level. For the first time in four seasons, there was a team without any all-stars: the struggling Marlins, who have a record of 9-385 in the minors.
