Season 57 All-Stars

Writer: Pomeroy "Just the Numbers" JamesPomeroy "Just the Numbers" James

Members of the Yount League often debate the validity of all-star recognition, even though there is an official all-star game at the major league level. The American League was dominated by the two most skilled teams: the Brewers, boasting an impressive eleven all-stars, and the Nationals, with nine. In the National League, the distribution was slightly more even, with the Twins, Guardians, and Rays each having four. For the second year in a row, eleven teams had no players chosen, as there are no mandatory selections.

In the minor leagues, all levels except Rookie host an all-star game. The Rookie level is acknowledged but does not participate in an actual game. The Minor League All-Stars were notably dominated by the rebuilding Red Sox, who had an impressive 29 selections. Both the Braves and Angels had 22 selections each, with the Angels securing an extraordinary 14 selections in Low-A. For the second consecutive year, the Marlins had no all-star selections. Coupled with the absence of major league selections, it suggests either a bias in the voting process or a lack of talent within the Marlins organization.
